Cakes

I was talking with my friend Amy today and I mentioned I was taking another cake decorating class.  She told me she wanted to see the few cakes I have already done.  I thought the rest of you might enjoy them too.  So, here they are Amy!

The first one is a birthday cake I did for my cousins 6th birthday party.  All the girls came dressed in princess costumes and they got their hair and make up done.  They had so much fun!  Bug had been begging me to make this cake for about three years, but I was always at school.  I was finally home to make it for her- and it was truly fit for a princess!

This is the cake I did for my cousin Whitney's wedding a little over a year ago.  It was my first and only wedding cake.  I was sooo nervous, but it turned out great!

Biggest Loser

I want to be the biggest loser!  At work, a lot of people have been talking about wanting to lose weight and get into shape, so we have decided to hold our own "biggest loser" competition.  Everyone is throwing some money into the pot and whoever loses the most weight (by percentage of what they started with, if that makes sense) in six weeks gets the pot.  Tomorrow is the first weigh in day (that I'm not looking forward to), so Friday everyone brought tons of junk to "binge" on before the competition starts.  Don't worry- I didn't give in to that!  I would have been sick for sure, but it was funny hearing everyone talk about it.  I am really excited for this!  I think this will help motivate me to get into shape- I always love money!  So, do yo have any tips and tricks for me to help me win?

New Purchase

Last weekend I got a new bike!! At the best shop in Reno- Scheel's! I am soooo excited to start biking again. This totally helps me with the goal of getting in shape. It was yucky weather earlier this week so I didn't have a chance to go for a ride until today after work. Oh, my, those bike saddles are harder than I remember! My tush hurt while I was riding, but luckily it stopped when I was done. It will definitely take some getting used to. I can tell that it is going to be a great workout for my legs. This is going to be a great summer (and maybe it will give me bit of a tan- well, a girl can hope, right?!)! I would post a picture, but my camera is still MIA. Almost 6 months now! Gah! I am starting to get the feeling that I will never find it again.

New Love

I have very, very, very dry skin.  Have I mentioned that it's dry?  For the past year I have gone through several foundations trying to find something that works with my skin.  From high end to low end, nothing worked!  I found a great moisturizer from Clinique that worked amazingly- until I put my foundation on.  Then I would just start peeling again.  Well, I finally found a foundation that works great!  It is Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy.

It is Carmindy's (from TLC's "What Not to Wear") own line and is all she uses on the show.  So far, all I have used is her foundation.  I am waiting to run out of my current primer to try hers.  Her eyeshadow colors are gorgeous!  And best of all, she has videos online that show how to use it all.  I'm in love!!  Check it out here.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog!! While I know it's now February, I am just starting on my New Year's resolutions. There a few on the list. The first is to not be so negative. I tend to be a bit of a negative person, as is my Grandma. After living with her for the last month or so (she is staying with us after having a knee replacement) I can see where I get it from. So it is stopping here. And since my other blog seemed fully complaining (and I just wanted a new web address for it), I am starting this new blog! I am quite excited to start fresh and find the silver lining in all the clouds :)

My other resolution is to get in shape! I am a weakling. Seriously! I have no upper arm strength or endurance. Never have and never wanted to. I hate sports and exercising. Yuck!! After having a desk job for over a year now I have started putting on weight. On my tummy :( Not good- weight there leads to tons of different heart problems, which I don't want. So my mom and I are working out together. We walk for twenty minutes in the morning then go on to this workout. So far we have stuck with it a whole week!!! Now, I know what you're thinking- why the heck are telling people you are doing this? No one wants to know you are gaining weight. I realize that, but the more people I tell, the more I will stick with it. Sounds crazy, but it works for me!

My last resolution is to learn how to do more DIY around the house. Especially when it comes to decorating. Our (my mom and dad's) house is now 24 years old. Lets just say some of the decorations we have had forever and starting to get a little old or just aren't working anymore. With Angie on a mission and the economy the way it is, we are not spending lots of extra money on things for the house. I want to find some fun ideas that we could ourselves. I am so excited for it! If you have any suggestions, send them my way!!
